Anabela Santos (1975)
Interior Designer/Set Decorator/Art Director
Born in Luanda, in 1968.
Trained in Interior Design in Lisbon and Florence. In 1994, she did a scenography internship at RTP (the Portuguese Public Radio and Television Broadcaster), and initiated her career in television working with scenographer António Casimiro.
In 1997, she began working as a freelancer in Scenography and Interior Design, working for production companies such as NBP, Endemol, SP Televisão, Freemantle Media, Shine Iberia, RI Filmes and Valentim de Carvalho. She is known for designing the sets of television shows such as Big Brother, Academia de Estrelas, Operação Triunfo and Peso Pesado, as well as television dramas and soap operas (Meu Querido Professor, Morangos com Açúcar, Fúria de Viver, O Jogo, Os Nossos Dias, As Poderosas).
In 2009, she co-created and co-produced the first edition of an innovative design fair, which aimed at promoting the best of Portugal. This event, which put national and international brands together, was a gathering of designers, architects and businessmen, fostering creative and commercial connections. At the same time, she has kept on working on home interior design projects for individual clients.
In 2015, Anabela Santos created her first project for film – designing the sets for Jogo de Damas, directed by Patrícia Sequeira.
