Clara Bento
Costume Designer

Born in Porto, on November 4th 1952. BA in Sculpture from the Porto Fine Arts School. Since 1976, she has devoted herself to creating costumes and props for the stage. In that area, she worked with Porto theatre companies O Realejo and Os Comediantes, between 1976 and 1983. From 1985 to 1990 she worked with the Municipal Museum in Setúbal to build puppets, didactic materials and thematic installations. Clara Bento created the costumes and the props for the concerts Mater e Eros, Da Cor da Água and A Vida de Um Vinho – composed by Jorge Salgueiro, who also directed the first, Miguel Jesus having directed the latter two. She is an associate of the Portuguese Association of Scenography. Since 2000, she’s been a member of the collective’s board at Teatro O Bando. She regularly works in O Bando’s productions, where she oversees the design and creation of costumes and props.
