Stéphane Alberto
Set and costume designer, prop master, musician.
BA in Theatre Design from the Lisbon Theatre and Film School.
Founding member of the theatre company Primeiros Sintomas. Since 2001, he has been designing sets for stage director Bruno Bravo: O Vidro, Frankenstein, A Montanha também Quem, O Homem do Pé Direito, Endgame (Best Play Award at the Portuguese Golden Globes, 2005), Conto de Natal, Nunca Terra, E Agora Baixou o Sol, Repartição, Lindos Dias, Hedda Gabler, Menina Júlia, Maria Mata-os, Os Assassinos, A Boda, Salomé, As Bodas de Fígaro, O Retrato de Dorian Gray (Honourable Mention APCT 2014), Cyrano de Bergerac (Time Out Best Play Award 2014) and Pinnochio (Best Play Nominee at the Portuguese Golden Globes, 2016). In the latter six, he also designed the costumes.
Stéphane Alberto has also designed sets for Sandra Faleiro, Raquel Dias, Rita Ribeiro, Rute Rocha, Isabel Medina, Luís Cruz and Miguel Sopas.
As a prop maker, he has worked with Peter Brook, Pina Bausch, Carlos Avillez, Maria Emília Correia, Filipe La Féria, Cristina Carvalhal and Beatriz Batarda.
In film, he works as an art director in projects by Carlos Braga, Edgar Feldman, Bruno Bravo and Ruben Alves.
He has also written music for the stage for João Meireles, Manuel Wiborg and Bruno Bravo.
